  16. Your best best with complex shapes is to bevel outwards.  This
  17. means setting the shift and inset to negative numbers to generate
  18. a bevel away from the central polygon rather than impinging on it.
  19. You do have to mess around to get the right face polygons back
  20. again, but it's not too terribily difficult.  An outer bevel will
  21. have none of the same problems rendering the self-crossings.  4.0
  22. Modeler has a new option to generate outer bevels since they are
  23. so useful.
